The UK’s South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) is one of the participants recruited by Medilingua’s UK partner Europe Evaluation Company (EEC). The Service has a very large and vibrant Educational Development and Technologies Team, which is very strongly engaged in using new technologies for training, including pod(vod)casting and simulation
The team has developed a fully functional and mobile ambulance training simulator (called the Simbulance) which has been very well received nation-wide ( http://www.southcentralambulance.nhs.uk/content/news/scas-to-showcase-simbulance-for-first-time-at-carf.ashx , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9uCnqmI4D8 ). The YouTube link is particularly interesting since footage from the body cameras worn by trainees is often used as part of the podcasting material.
SCAS’ use of podcasting technology which is more video-centred and desk-top based than that being developed within Medilingua (which is develop scenario-based podcasting opportunities for m-learning via smartphones and the like).
