88 paramedics from Bulgaria participated in the research. All of them completed the surveys on time. Representatives of Center RUNI hold face to face meetings with some of them in order to introduce them to the project, its aims and the research phase. They also provided them with detailed instructions on how to fill in the questionnaires. The same was done via phone calls or e-mail correspondence with those paramedics who were not able to attend the meetings. All of the respondents showed a big interest in the project and declared their willingness to participate in its future activities.
Due to the complex professional status of paramedics in Bulgaria the working positions and competences of the respondents were very diverse. However, when recruiting participants for the research Center RUNI followed the definiton of paramedics provided by Oxford dictionary: “people who are trained to do medical work, especially emergency first aid, but are not a fully qualified doctors”.
